Best Diaper Bag Backpacks of 2024: A Mom's Review

Posted by Abegale Clarino on

Being a mom means always being prepared. Whether it's a diaper change on the go, a sudden need for baby wipes, or a hungry little one wanting a snack, having the right diaper bag can make all the difference. This year, I've tried and tested the best diaper bag backpacks on the market to give you the inside scoop. Here's what I found:

Elkie & Co. Capri Diaper Bag

The Elkie & Co. Capri diaper bag emerged as my top pick. What I loved most about it is its durability. It's made from a newly innovated material called microfiber leather , known for its durability. I've used my Capri bag for 3 years now, and it still looks brand new. Another feature of microfiber leather is its lightweight nature, coming in just under 2 pounds. Even when fully packed, it doesn't feel too heavy. The interior lining is crafted from a stain-resistant, water-resistant polyester material. It might get dirty, but it wipes clean easily, and I've never had issues with water seeping into my bag if something spills. At first glance, it might not seem massive, but once packed, it can accommodate a vast array of items from diapers to bottles to toys. I've never felt the need to pack more. It also boasts numerous pockets for organization and can fit a 32 oz water bottle in the outside pockets. Notably, it's the only diaper bag with insulated bottle pockets on the inside.

Azaria Le Mere Diaper Bag

Azaria Le Mere and the Elkie & Co. Capri diaper bag backpack share many similarities. It can also hold roughly the same amount, ensuring you never run out of space. Like the Capri, it can comfortably accommodate a 32 oz. water bottle on the side. A significant advantage of this bag is the wipeable interior made from vegan leather, simplifying cleaning. However, it's twice as heavy as the Capri bag. When fully packed, it feels heftier than most bags. Unfortunately, the material isn't of the highest quality. Numerous customer reviews indicate that the material chips, flakes, or cracks after only a short period of use. While it does come with a 6-month warranty, this warranty doesn't cover such material damages.

Fawn Design Diaper Bag

Fawn Design diaper bag is arguably one of the most renowned diaper bag brands. They pioneered the concept of chic, stylish diaper bags. One of my first diaper bags was from Fawn Design, but I ended up returning it because it weighed a whopping 4 POUNDS! It felt heavy even before packing. The exterior side pockets are somewhat restrictive; you can only slip a phone inside if the bag isn't packed to capacity. The interior organization wasn't to my liking either, with a lack of functional pockets. On the upside, it's aesthetically pleasing and can hold a decent amount, but the Azaria Le Mere and Elkie & Co. Capri backpack offer more space. It also lacks insulated bottle pockets, though you can purchase an insulated bottle holder separately. Like the Azaria Le Mere, it's crafted from PU vegan leather, which is susceptible to chipping and peeling over time.

Luli Bebe Diaper Bag

Lastly, the Luli Bebe Monoco Diaper Bag offers ample space, slightly surpassing the Capri and Le Mere in size. It features several pockets on the inside. However, like the Azaria Le Mere and Fawn, it lacks an insulated bottle pocket. I wasn't fond of the satin interior. It doesn't seem like it would handle the usual wear and tear very well. Like the Fawn Design and Azaria Le Mere bags, it's also made from PU leather, known to peel and crack easily. The front pocket, with its quilted design, is adorable. While it includes a changing mat and stroller straps, I wasn't particularly impressed with the changing mat's design. (I love this one so much more) However, its PU leather construction means it's vulnerable to chipping and peeling over time, and it also lacks insulated bottle pockets.

Conclusion:

Every diaper bag has its strengths and weaknesses. Your choice will ultimately depend on your specific needs and preferences. The Elkie & Co. Capri  seems to lead the pack with its lightweight design and extended warranty. However, if a wipeable interior is your priority, the Azaria Le Mere diaper bag might be more to your liking. Whatever you choose, here's to smooth adventures with your little one!
